Roger Sutherland removing bees from house
On July 17, 2003 Roger Sutherland received a call from Scott ONeal regarding the possible removal of a colony of honey bees in his building being remodeled. The building, constructed as a hotel in the late 1800s, is located on Cherry Hill Road near Ridge in Canton Township.
The colony was in a basement window space 2' X 1 ½' by 10 inches. It had a glass window on both sides and looked like an observation hive. Sutherland cut out the comb and placed it in frames secured by string. Much of the better comb filled with honey was given to Scot for consumption. Since it was July the recovered bees were combined with another hive.
